Webster became a Christian during the year 1809 during the 2nd Great Awakening at a revival that was at Yale University, his Alma mater. Noah Webster had been a soldier during the American Revolution, a judge afterwards; as well as a legislature. He believed that America could only be sound if we had a good educational system that taught the principles upon which it was founded. So he spent 20 years of his life preparing this dictionary. He actually learned 28 different languages to write this dictionary. It contains some 40,000 words, thousands which had never before been defined before this dictionary. In the front of this dictionary he dedicates the entire endeavor to God & the advancement of God's kingdom on earth. Nearly one-fourth of the examples he used to show how words were used in connotation and denotation were actually Bible verses. This is the Webster dictionary that we use today except all the Bible verses have been taken out
